The Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services in the college's Center for Insurance and Financial Services supports a variety of programs related to insurance education. Activities supported by the school include a distinguished lectureship series, professional seminars and conferences, and scholarships.
Scholarships of up to $4000 are offered to current MBA students planning to pursue a career in the insurance industry. An insurance-related project must be completed in exchange for the scholarship. Applications and guidelines are available in the M.B.A. office.

The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) at Illiniois State University offers a $250 book/supplies scholarship ($125 per semester) to two incoming or enrolled black graduate students each year, in honor of Julia Visor, who was advisor to BGSA from its founding in 1994 until her untimely death in 2001.

Donald F. McHenry, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a 1957 Illinois State graduate, attributes much of the success of his diplomatic career to the experiences he had at the University. Applicants for this $5,000 award must be U.S. citizens of African, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American descent admitted to a graduate degree program and attending school full time. Scholarship, financial need, evidence of leadership, and career goals will be considered. Applications are available in the Graduate School office and must be received by April 1.
