CMBA Program History

The Illinois State University MBA Program has an extensive history of offering corporate MBA (CMBA) programs to central Illinois firms. The first corporate MBA program was offered to employees of Illinois Power in 1994. Thirty-two students graduated from the first program in 1997.

In 1998, the second corporate program was offered to employees of Archer Daniels Midland, Co., Bridgestone-Firestone, and Caterpillar. Twenty-two students graduated from this program in December of 2000.

Twenty-two employees from Archer Daniels Midland, Co., Bridgestone-Firestone, Caterpillar, and Illinois Power participated in the third program, and twenty students completed all coursework and graduated in August of 2002. Two others in this program completed additional elective coursework taken at another university and graduated in August 2003.

The fourth Corporate MBA Program was offered in Decatur at the Archer Daniels Midland Co. Global Training Center with a total of 30 participants from ADM , Caterpillar, and several other smaller organizations.

The Corporate MBA program began in January 2006 in partnership with the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. The students are scheduled to complete the cohort in the fall of 2008. This program has been unique in that it is the first CMBA Program to be offered on Illinois State University's campus.

The next on-campus CMBA will begin in August of 2008.
